1. Introduction

Alpha Cleaning Services Ltd (“ACS Ltd”) recognises its responsibilities when working in environments where children, young people, vulnerable adults, school staff or the public may be present.
This includes schools, nurseries, colleges, residential settings and properties where safeguarding considerations apply.

We are committed to promoting safe working practices, professional conduct and vigilance in maintaining a secure environment.

2. Safeguarding Commitments

We commit to:

  • Ensuring all staff behave professionally and respectfully

  • Enforcing clear boundaries between adults and children

  • Preventing unsupervised lone contact with children

  • Reporting safeguarding concerns immediately

  • Complying with site-specific safeguarding rules

3. Safer Recruitment

ACS Ltd ensures:

  • Right to Work checks

  • Identity verification

  • Employment history review

  • Character references

  • Enhanced DBS checks for staff assigned to schools or child-access areas

  • Annual DBS status checks (where available)

We do not place staff into school sites without appropriate checks.

4. Staff Conduct Expectations

Staff must:

  • Wear visible identification at all times

  • Dress appropriately for work

  • Never use mobile phones in pupil-access areas

  • Never photograph or record children

  • Never engage in physical contact

  • Never be alone with a child unless unavoidable and reported immediately

  • Report any concerns to site management and ACS Ltd

  • Follow all safeguarding rules of the site they are working on

5. Training & Induction

All staff receive safeguarding awareness induction which includes:

  • Recognising signs of harm

  • Responding to concerns

  • Professional boundaries

  • Reporting routes

6. Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

Staff must report concerns to:

  • The site’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
    AND

  • ACS Ltd management team immediately

A written record will be made and retained securely.

7. Visitors & Third Parties

Where subcontractors are used:

  • They must meet ACS Ltd safeguarding standards

  • They must be DBS-checked where required

  • They must follow the same site rules

8. Review

This policy is reviewed annually.
