1. Statement of Commitment

Alpha Cleaning Services Ltd is committed to achieving the highest standards of health and safety for our staff, clients, pupils, visitors and the public.
We comply with:
• Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
• Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999
• COSHH Regulations 2002
• Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992

2. Responsibilities

Employer Responsibilities (ACS Ltd)

We will:
• Provide safe systems of work
• Deliver regular H&S training
• Provide PPE and ensure correct usage
• Maintain safe equipment
• Conduct site-specific risk assessments
• Investigate incidents and near misses
• Ensure effective communication with clients

Employee Responsibilities

All staff must:
• Follow training and safe-working procedures
• Wear PPE
• Report hazards, incidents or injuries
• Not misuse equipment
• Comply with supervision and directions

3. Risk Assessments

Risk assessments are completed for:
• Cleaning tasks
• Working at height
• Lone working
• Sharps or bodily fluids
• Chemical use (COSHH)
• School environments

Assessments are reviewed annually or where operations change.

4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Staff are provided with appropriate PPE including:
• Gloves
• Masks (where risk requires)
• Protective footwear
• Aprons
• Eye protection (where required)

5. Accident & Incident Reporting

All accidents, incidents, hazards and near-misses must be reported immediately.
Serious incidents may be RIDDOR-reportable.

6. Lone Working

Staff working alone must:
• Check in with supervisors
• Work only in assessed safe environments
• Keep mobile phones charged

7. Manual Handling

Staff are trained to lift safely and avoid unnecessary strain.

8. Slips, Trips & Falls

We use:
• Wet floor signs
• Appropriate footwear
• Safe floor cleaning procedures

9. Client Sites (Schools, Commercial Settings)

We comply with all site-specific rules including:
• Signing in/out
• DBS and safeguarding requirements
• Restricted access areas

10. Use of Bleach

Because bleach is corrosive and produces harmful fumes, ACS Ltd adopts a zero-bleach operational policy unless a Client signs a Bleach Use Waiver.

Where bleach is authorised under the waiver:
• Staff will follow bleach-specific PPE requirements
• Adequate ventilation must be ensured
• Only trained staff may handle bleach
• Bleach must never be mixed with other chemicals (e.g. acids, ammonia)

11. Training

All staff receive induction and annual refreshers.
Full training records available upon request.
